FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SW VA...SE WV AND NW NC
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BLACKSBURG VA
351 PM EDT FRI SEP 4 2015

.DISCUSSION...

SPOTTY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORM WILL DRIFT ACROSS THE AREA THIS
EVENING...RESULTING IN HIT AND MISS RAINFALL WITH LOCALIZED ONE
INCH AMOUNTS. BETTER COVERAGE WILL BE FOUND ACROSS THE PIEDMONT
AND THE MOUNTAINS NORTH OF HIGHWAY 460. THIS ACTIVITY IS
DEVELOPING AHEAD OF A WEAK COLD FRONT DROPPING SOUTH ACROSS THE
AREA TONIGHT.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN BEHIND THE FRONT...WEDGING AGAINST
THE APPALACHIANS TO BRING SOMEWHAT COOLER AND DRIER WEATHER FOR
THE WEEKEND...ALTHOUGH SPOTTY SHOWERS WILL STILL BE POSSIBLE
ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND THE PIEDMONT OF NORTH CAROLINA...WHERE
THE INFLUENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS WEAKEST.

THE WEDGE WILL BREAK MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY. MOISTURE AND ABOVE
NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL RETURN FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY ALONG
WITH A BETTER CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AHEAD OF A COLD
FRONT.
