FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SW VA...SE WV AND NW NC
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BLACKSBURG VA
340 AM EST SUN MAR 1 2015

.DISCUSSION...
HIGH PRESSURE WEDGED AGAINST THE EASTERN FACE OF THE APPALACHIANS
WILL MAINTAIN A SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST FLOW OF AIR ACROSS THE REGION INTO
THIS AFTERNOON. THIS WILL BRING BANDS OF PRECIPITATION INTO THE AREA
FROM THE SOUTH EARLY THIS MORNING AND ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION INTO AT
LEAST EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. MUCH OF THIS WILL FALL AS SLEET AND
FREEZING RAIN FOR MOST OF THE FORECAST REGION. LIQUID EQUIVALENT AMOUNTS
WILL RANGE FROM ONE TO TWO TENTHS OF AN INCH ESPECIALLY ALONG AND EAST
OF THE BLUE RIDGE.

WARM AIR WILL BUILD IN FROM THE WEST LATER TODAY...CAUSING AFTERNOON
TEMPERATURES TO WARM INTO THE MID 30S TO LOWER 40S...WITH PRECIPITATION
CHANGING OVER TO RAIN.

RAIN CHANCES WILL DIMINISH FROM EAST TO WEST SUNDAY EVENING AS A COLD
FRONT MOVES ACROSS THE REGION. EXPECT A PERIOD OF DRY WEATHER MONDAY AND
MONDAY NIGHT. MORE WET WEATHER IS EXPECTED TUESDAY INTO THURSDAY ALONG A
MUCH STRONGER COLD FRONT THAT IS FORECAST TO WORK ITS WAY ACROSS THE
REGION. DRIER BUT COLDER WEATHER RETURNS BY FRIDAY AS COLD HIGH PRESSURE
BUILDS IN BEHIND THE EXITING FRONT.
