.DISCUSSION...
UNSEASONABLY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL PREVAIL ACROSS THE REGION
TODAY AS A COLD CANADIAN HIGH PRESSURE AREA SETTLES OVER THE
REGION. ALL AREAS WILL BE BELOW FREEZING THIS MORNING AND MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN A GOOD 15-DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. WINDS
WILL BE CONSIDERABLY LESS THAN TUESDAY...HOWEVER.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL DRIFT TO THE NORTHEAST OF THE REGION THURSDAY.
TEMPERATURES WILL MODERATE...BUT THE EASTERLY FLOW AROUND THIS 
HIGH WILL TEMPER ANY SIGNIFICANT WARMUP AND TEMPERATURES WILL 
REMAIN BELOW NORMAL.

OVER THE WEEKEND...AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP ACROSS 
THE SOUTHEAST STATES AND DRIFT SLOWLY EAST THROUGH MONDAY. EASTERLY
FLOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION WITH NEAR NORMAL TO SLIGHTLY
BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES. AN UPPER TROUGH WILL ALSO APPROACH THE
REGION FROM THE NORTHWEST. THERE WILL BE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN
SHOWERS IN THE ALLEGHANY MOUNTAINS FRIDAY NIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY 
WITH RAIN POSSIBLY NEARING THE NORTH CAROLINA PIEDMONT COUNTIES
DURING THE WEEKEND. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN NEAR TO SLIGHTLY BELOW
NORMAL THROUGH THE PERIOD.

ALTHOUGH NO SIGNIFICANT WETTING RAIN IS EXPECTED THE NEXT FEW DAYS...
BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND LIGHTER WINDS WILL SLOW DRYING OF
CURRENT WET FUELS. IN ADDITION...A PROLONGED PERIOD OF NORTHEAST
TO EAST FLOW WILL LEAD TO LESS THAN IDEAL PRESCRIBED BURNING CONDITIONS
IN SOME AREAS.
