.DISCUSSION...

A COLD FRONT THAT EXTENDED FROM EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA TO EAST
TENNESSEE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EAST AND OFF THE COAST THIS
MORNING. LIGHT RAIN WILL BE SCATTERED OVER SOUTHERN VIRGINIA AND
NORTHERN NORTH CAROLINA UNTIL THE FRONT GOES THROUGH.

HIGH PRESSURE AND DRIER AIR WILL FOLLOW BEHIND THE FRONT. THE HIGH

EXTENDING SOUTH INTO THE MID ATLANTIC REGION. AS LOW LEVEL WINDS BECOME
EAST TO SOUTHEAST...LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WILL RETURN TO THE SOUTHERN
BLUE RIDGE LATE TONIGHT...ALONG WITH SOME PATCHY DRIZZLE AND LIGHT RAIN.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER THE CENTRAL PLAINS ON TUESDAY WILL MOVE
NORTHEAST. MUCH WARMER AIR MOVES IN ALOFT BUT WITH THE WEDGE AT THE
SURFACE...TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN BELOW NORMAL. A STRONG COLD FRONT
WILL PASS THROUGH OUR AREA ON WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THIS WILL
BRING A PROLONGED PERIOD OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN. RAINFALL AMOUNTS
UP TO 1.5 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH THURSDAY.

DRIER BUT COLDER WEATHER RETURNS BY FRIDAY AS COLD HIGH PRESSURE
BUILDS IN BEHIND THE EXITING FRONT.
