FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR SW VA...SE WV AND NW NC
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BLACKSBURG VA
1006 AM EDT SUN APR 20 2014

...LOW AFTERNOON HUMIDITY ALONG WITH GUSTY EASTERLY WINDS...

.DISCUSSION...
LOW PRESSURE OFF THE SOUTHEAST COAST WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE AWAY
THIS AFTERNOON...LEAVING COOL HIGH PRESSURE WEDGED AGAINST THE
EASTERN FACE OF THE APPALACHIANS. THIS WILL RESULT IN A CONTINUED
GUSTY BUT DRY EASTERLY WIND FLOW...IN ADDITION TO ABUNDANT SUNSHINE.
THIS COMBINED WITH WARMING TEMPERATURES WILL CAUSE HUMIDITY LEVELS
TO FALL BELOW 25 PERCENT ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS THIS
AFTERNOON. WINDS WILL GRADUALLY TURN MORE SOUTHWEST MONDAY AND
INCREASE IN SPEED ON TUESDAY AS THE HIGH SLIDES EAST AND THE NEXT
COLD FRONT APPROACHES FROM THE WEST.

MOISTURE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FRONT WILL BRING THE NEXT CHANCE OF
WETTING RAINFALL IN THE FORM OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
TUESDAY AFTERNOON. HIGH PRESSURE ALONG WITH GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS
AND MUCH DRIER AIR FOLLOWS THE FRONT ON WEDNESDAY.
