CATTARAUGUS NY-GENESEE NY-WYOMING NY-CHAUTAUQUA NY-ERIE NY-
1020 PM EST SUN NOV 23 2014

...THE FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 415 PM EST MONDAY FOR
ERIE...NORTHERN CHAUTAUQUA...WYOMING...SOUTHERN GENESEE AND
NORTHWESTERN CATTARAUGUS COUNTIES...

AT 1010 PM EST...TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 50S WILL SLOWLY RISE
DURING THE REMAINING OVERNIGHT HOURS...REACHING CLOSE TO 60 BY
MIDDAY MONDAY.

WHILE RAINFALL WILL GENERALLY BE A THIRD OF AN INCH OR LESS THROUGH
MONDAY MORNING...THE RATE OF SNOW MELT WILL INTENSIFY WITH THE
RISING TEMPERATURES SO THAT SIGNIFICANT MELTING OF THE WATER LADEN
SNOW PACK WILL LEAD TO AREAS OF FLOODING. MEANWHILE THE POTENTIAL
FOR ICE JAM FLOODING HAS LESSENED...BUT THIS IS A RISK THAT WILL
STILL HAVE TO WATCHED INTO MONDAY MORNING.

RESIDENTS NEAR CREEKS ARE URGED TO TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PREPARE FOR
POSSIBLE FLOODING NOW...INCLUDING MOVING ITEMS FROM BASEMENTS.
RESIDENTS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO EVACUATE IF ICE JAMS FORCE WATER
OVER RIVER BANKS AS MOVING WATER IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION.

SINCE MANY STORM DRAINS ARE SNOW CLOGGED...MANY URBAN AREAS WILL
LIKELY EXPERIENCE FLOODING WITH SEVERAL FEET OF WATER POSSIBLY
ACCUMULATING ON SOME STRETCHES OF ROAD. SOME RESIDENTIAL BASEMENTS
WILL START TO FLOOD AT THIS TIME AS WELL.

IN ADDITION...VERY STRONG WINDS WILL DEVELOP MONDAY AND MONDAY
NIGHT. THESE WINDS WILL BRING DOWN SOME TREES AND POWER LINES...
POSSIBLY CAUSING SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES. THIS WILL ALSO CAUSE SUMP
PUMPS TO FAIL.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
