440 PM EDT SAT OCT 25 2014

...ENHANCED THREAT FOR THE SPREAD OF WILDFIRES SUNDAY...

A DRY COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE AREA OVERNIGHT. WINDS WILL PICK UP
BEHIND THE FRONT ON SUNDAY...WHICH WILL RESULT IN DRY AND BLUSTERY
CONDITIONS. WESTERLY WINDS WILL BE SUSTAINED AROUND 15 MPH WITH
FREQUENT GUSTS AROUND 25 TO 30 MPH ACROSS CENTRAL VIRGINIA SUNDAY
AFTERNOON.

DUE TO THE WINDS...THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL DROP TO BETWEEN 25
TO 35 PERCENT. THESE WINDY AND DRY CONDITIONS WILL ALLOW FUELS TO
DRY OUT FURTHER. FINER FUELS WILL DRY OUT FIRST. THE COMBINATION
OF GUSTY WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND RELATIVELY LOW FUEL
MOISTURE WILL ENHANCE THE THREAT FOR SPREAD OF WILDFIRES.

OPEN BURNING OF ANY TYPE IS CONSIDERED VERY HAZARDOUS THIS TIME OF
YEAR. ACCIDENTAL ESCAPED DEBRIS BURNS ARE THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF
WILDFIRES.

1004 PM EDT SAT OCT 25 2014

...ENHANCED FIRE DANGER ON SUNDAY...

A DRY COLD FRONT WILL PASS SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE REGION SATURDAY NIGHT...
FOLLOWED BY BUILDING HIGH PRESSURE ON SUNDAY. THE PRESSURE GRADIENT
BEHIND THE FRONT BETWEEN LOW PRESSURE WELL TO THE NORTH AND THE
HIGH TO THE WEST WILL RESULT IN INCREASING NORTHWEST WINDS SUNDAY
MORNING AFTER DAYBREAK. THESE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN STRONG
AND GUSTY...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND JUST EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE INTO
LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THIS IN COMBINATION WITH THE MIXING OF MUCH
DRIER AIR TO THE SURFACE AND DAYTIME HEATING WILL CAUSE SMALLER
FUELS...SUCH AS LEAF LITTER AND GRASSES TO DRY FURTHER. THIS WILL
LIKELY LEAD TO ENHANCED FIRE DANGER ESPECIALLY BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON
WHEN NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING AS HIGH AS 35 MPH COULD RESULT IN
RAPID FIRE SPREAD.

OUTDOOR BURNING IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED ESPECIALLY NEAR THE BLUE
RIDGE SUNDAY WHERE FIRES ARE MORE APT TO GET OUT OF CONTROL.
REMEMBER TO USE CAUTION WHEN DISCARDING ANY SMOKING MATERIALS ON
SUNDAY.
